Nowadays, is Baptism an important event to a Christian? People belief God, they knelt down and pray to God for help and study bible, are they a Christians or non-Christians?
Target and belief to the Christian and non-Christian in the church.
Christians had got different opinions in Advance the Gospel. They use their service power in Church and rely on God’s grace. How (selective or submissive) to follow them?
Some people who say they have spiritual gifts. They work of miracles, inner healing and speak in 「tongue」 but they have no/much experience(s). How to maintain the relationship (Assertive or selective)?
Thanks for your enquiry on spiritual gifts. I have a feeling that you are a bit confused because people have different opinion on spiritual gifts and on God’s salvation. Besides, you are frustrated on the relationship with them because you are not sure what is your own stand point. Your intuition tells you, their teachings are problematic. But, you’re not sure what is right and what is wrong. Therefore, you’re reluctant to follow them.
1. Okay, back to your question. How to be a Christian? Roman 10:9 tells us: 「if you confess with your mouth, 「Jesus is Lord,」 and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.」 And Mark16:16 tells you also 「Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved…」 In short, only if you confess that Jesus is Lord and you believe in your heart, you are sufficient enough to be a Christian. But, spiritual growth of maturity of a Christian are also very important. Paul in 1 Corinthians described those believers who follow worldly knowledge as 「Christian baby」. Therefore, we need to constantly study bible and pray so that we grow spiritually with the power of God’s word.
2. About the spiritual gifts. does bible support Christian using spiritual gifts in their serving? The answer is 「YES」. 1 Corinthians 12:28 tells us: 」 And in the church God has appointed first of all apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then workers of miracles, also those having gifts of healing, those able to help others, those with gifts of administration, and those speaking in different kinds of tongues.」 Paul clearly stated that super-natural spiritual gifts were appointed by God and these spiritual gifts given to believers so at to develop the church and witness the power of God. Paul also reminded us that if we use some of these spiritual gifts we should follow some strict rules(1 Corinthians 14). But, Paul reminded that the most important rule is 「Love」 (1 Corinthians). If we use these spiritual gifts without a whole-hearted loving people you serve and God, these gifts mean nothing to God. Therefore, if God gives you gifts, you should use it to serve brothers and sisters in needs but use it carefully.
3. But, how to use it? or in your words, how to follow them, submissively follow them without any questions? selectively follow their teaching? or assertively reject them? Wendy, i think what you really need now is 「COMMUNICATION」 not the answer of a question 「HOW TO FOLLOW」. Go, talk to your pastor. Tell him what is bothering you and what you’re worried about and why you are reluctant to follow them right now. Maybe, his guideline would be more suitable than my!!
God bless you!!
